i recently had to vacate canada after three years there. this is how i feel. i miss my amazing boyfriend, my perfect pup and my beautiful cozy apartment. i'm very sad, but also in denial and have refused, for the past 5 days to believe i'm back in ny for real and have stuck to the pacific time zone, and will not unpack. take that.

wow, touch screen pop?

in the mall yesterday i came across what i thought was a tv, we discovered it was, in fact, a touch screen coca-cola vending machine... however, when i wanted to see my options for pop, it wouldn't allow me to until i inserted my cash or credit card... i guess they haven't perfected it yet... but yeah, advertisements play at the top of the screen also.

i was flying yesterday, and in the philadelphia airport i encountered this girl who had an umbrella... and it was covered in crap... action figures on strings, stickers (which were peeling off, obviously from the rain) just covered... i had to discreetly capture this.

for halloween we carved pumpks... but we're broke so we got little ones cuz they're cheaper... and they came out cute! except my dumb robot one cuz i couldn't think of anything to carve...overviewthe best one, by stevonby me, for pollooogie boogie, by stevonmy stupid angry robot

i bought a new external hard drive, and the casing it came with was just a flimsy velveteen pouch with a drawstring... i need something sturdier than that, so i took an hour to construct something of my own with stuff i had... i took 4 pieces of felt (same size) and two pieces of padding fiber fill (a bit larger than the felt) and basically just made stitching with my machine... like a sandwich: felt-fiberfill-felt sew, then i sewed a patch on one and sewed the two together added some buttons and elastic and bam... sturdy case. from scratch.

once upon a time... i needed stitches

it was the first and only time i've ever gotten stitches... i jammed my arm into a bolt in my storage unit trying to get my super nintendo out... when i noticed it was bleeding, i got a little nervous.. stevon saw the blood and tied his sock around it... we went up to the apartment to have a better look... i could see in stevon's face that it was bad, and he said "yeah ok, we need to go to the ER cuz i can see the fat cells in your arm" so off we went...
after about a week, i didn't want to go to the doctor to get them out, so stevon said he'd do it.. so we taped that too.
it was fine.

a puppet who squeaks

as a child i grew up watching a popular british kids show "sooty" and although little cousin scampi was in a close lead... sweep the dog (who squeaked to talk) always stole my heart. have a look

so much stuff has been stolen from me in my life (i have like a curse on me or something) but this guy locks his bike to a tree, with box tape, in the middle of the city, in downtown vancouver... who knows how long it's been there, it probably still is there... i just can't believe it. for real.

portfolio update... not to nauseate.

so in order to graduate from school, i had to complete a portfolio class... and have a portfolio show... the portfolio which i put together, i find, no longer suits me, as i've become dark and bitter from a year of unemployment (although it was cool, a pop up book). that combined with my external hard drive, which held the digital copy of the old on it, being stolen/lost/whatevered; i searched through every CDR, flash drive, and (most tediously) every email in my gmail containing an attachment (chyeah..do that. it's awesome) so i'm finishing up the last pages now to bring to the print shop tomorrow... this is what the pages look like.

oh, and a side note (about the header) when i showed my father the original portfolio; which took about 100 hours to complete, he informed me that it made him nauseous.

it was a really special moment in my life.

felicia's high school reunion?

god i hope not! chloe and i have always held this scene of "romy and michelle's high school reunion" dear to our hearts.. but with my own reunion only three and a half years away, i fear this will be where i'm at also, you know, trying to be a fashion designer in times of recession and all.

my sister "ahh!!!"-ed and i started cracking up cuz we walk into situations like this all the time.. extremely gross public bathrooms and such... so i'm assuming she made the slightly horrified noise at the mirror falling off the wall and the blood-like looking paint/stain under the sink...
but then i almost pee-ed my pants cracking up when i realized she was actually scared about the giant bathroom with several sinks and mirrors, and one toilet.

cuz you'll want to if you make the same decision as me by reading all four of these books... don't get my wrong... i liked them, the first one best then less and less after that... but i mean, the 2000 approximate pages you read could probably be cut in half by taking out how many times bella explains how edward is "the most beautiful thing [she's] ever seen" and how she doesn't deserve to be loved by him bla bla bla. let's just say, four books later, i'm actually excited for my next choice... about the holocaust.

so very unfortunate that i came across this treasure in my poorest of days... as $3.99 each was just a little too hard to handle... but this pair of walkie talkie watches had me debating for a while... i justified it with the thought 'this is savers, second hand store, it's possible when i put batteries in they don't work and i'm out $8' i'll be wondering for the rest of my days. however, chloe and i did manage to sneak a photo in the backpack and luggage department. semi-score.

going camping for the second time in my life in a week... the thing i'm most excited for? steaks marinated in garbage bags and cooked over campfire... and i'm completely serious... best steak i've eaten in my entire life. well done stevon... actually make that medium rare for me ;)

here's an awesome phone that i stumbled across a couple years ago on a gadgets website... i would have bought it instantly, however, unfortunately, it only works in Europe and Australia... no US or Canada... yesterday, i re-found it, but still no progress on making it usable in north america... guess i'll get one when i move to europe.
